359 Advances in Phase Field Modeling of Microstructures

Yong Ni, University of Science & Technology of China

Jie Wang, Zhejiang University

The macroscopic properties of materials, such as the thermal, mechanical and electrical properties, are highly dependent on the microstructures. Advanced computational models and methods can reliably capture the evolution of microstructures and shed new light on the underlying physical mechanisms. The phase field methods based on the nonlocal theory employ a diffusive interface model, which exhibit a great advantage over sharp interface model in predicting the arbitrary and complex microstructures of materials. The purpose of this mini-symposium is to bring together scientists and researchers from universities and research institutes who are involved in the development and applications of phase-field methods to discuss the recent advances and identify future directions of phase-field method.
